Have you joined us?

Dear Friend,

Over the past three months, PDA and our allies in the struggle to win single-payer healthcare—improved and enhanced Medicare for all—have been circulating the Declaration of Health Independence and Security for signature and as a way to engage others in this righteous cause. Thousands of people have already signed, but our goal is to reach 25,000 signatures before the end of the summer.

PDA will never give in and never give up on this goal, and we invite those who have not yet signed the Declaration to do so. Then take it a step further. Print out a copy. Ask a friend or a neighbor to sign it. Take it to a community function or gathering and talk about it. Let’s start in our own neighborhoods to build on the energy of the past two years that saw a rising cry for “Healthcare NOT Warfare” as the best way to move this nation forward.

Our Brown Bag Lunch Vigils, held on the third Wednesday of every month, highlight our campaign to end the tremendous outlay of funding and resources for war and to build the path forward for healthcare for all and for a true economic recovery for millions by rebuilding this nation’s path to peace and justice. We air the need to protect Social Security and Medicare and for accountability and effective action for the horrific BP oil gusher in the Gulf.  We join forces with our friends to fight for the kind of future we know is possible, instead of conceding a status quo that will lead us away from the better world we hope to leave our children.

Sign the Declaration, sign up your friends and neighbors and co-workers, grab a sack lunch and find a Brown Bag Lunch Vigil near you, and become part of the solution as we look toward adding thousands more voices every month to our ranks. We must let our elected officials know that we expect them to act in our best interests at all times and not just during the months leading up to an election. We have the right to hold them accountable and the duty to do so.

Together, we can change the dynamics of this nation and our world. Join us. The work goes on.

Peace,

Donna Smith
