Agitator-PDA-Banner-05We only need think of the Gulf of Mexico to be reminded that corporate abuses have deadly consequences–especially when the corporations are considered people with the same rights we have, as in the case of Citizens United. In this episode, our guests discuss the growing movement to demand the suspension of corporate personhood. Tim Carpenter interviews two progressive scholars–both of whom were with us from the beginning of PDA–John Bonifaz from Free Speech for People, and David Cobb from Move to Amend. Produced by David Pakman.

It's not either/or but both: move(s) to amend and promoting constitutional convention. Onward!

John and David both articulate compelling arguments. Let's keep the debate going,

It's not either/or, it's both strategies that need to be pursued: move(s) to amend and constitutional convention. Whatever expands out democracy and diminishes the notion of corporate personhood. Onward!

How do the people finance the instrument to be applied to reinstate our constitution (since bankruptcy in 19330 and how do we get out of the GATT instrument that makes the United States a member state of the WTO/IMF.

I have some questions about corporations as people
1)If two mega banks merge, is it considered same sex marriage?
2)If a corporation becomes a global conglomerate is it polygamy?
3)If a corporation commits heinous crimes (BP, Enron, etc., etc.) is capitol punishment in play?
Don't we need these questions anserwed?

Corporate control of Congress is an issue of ethics. Do you want a government of ethics or will you allow greed to trump ethics?
The first three words of our Constitution says "We the People..." not "We the People and Corporations...". This thought is exactly why I can not support the Donna Edwards Amendment that provides for Congress to "regulate" corporate donations. I am not ready to spit on the Constitution or compromise on our Constitution. If we allow Congress to feed from the "Corporate Money Trough", then we will never see Congress representing "We the People...". I have an Amendment that is clear and decisive, no corporate finances period. No gray area. When politicians must get their money from We the People then they will start to represent the people. This one issue overflows upon everything negative in Congress. See facebook Abolish Corporate Personhood Now (Arizona) is the page you will see for sure, leave the (Arizona) out for the main page. Have 17 states and many Congressional Districts, so join the real Amendment.
