Tell CBS: Make healthcare a priority in the debate

Submitted by mike hersh on 9-30-2008 – 11:28 amComments

America is in trouble. Costs are rising for working families faster then their wages. Our economy is collapsing under the weight of corporate greed and unregulated risk. We need a real debate about real issues.

However, according to Media Matters, health care represented only 5% of the questions asked in the 2008 Primary debates. Health care ranks as the #3 issue Americans care about, and yet it is not being discussed at all.

Can you email Steve Chaggaris, the Political Director at CBS News, and tell him to make health care a priority in the domestic debate he’s putting together on October 15th?

Health care costs are emptying American’s pocket books. Every second, nineteen people in this country go into bankruptcy because they can’t pay for the care they need to stay alive and healthy. Yet, a real debate about the health care plans of the two Presidential candidates has been absent from the national stage.

There are clear differences between the way Senators Barack Obama and John McCain would solve our health care crisis. One would guarantee quality, affordable health care for all of us, and one would deregulate the insurance industry, tax your health care benefits, and leave you to obtain private health care on your own. This great country deserves to hear both positions on health care so people can judge for themselves which Senator has a plan that will help them the most.

On October 15th, Barack Obama and John McCain will debate domestic and economic policy. The debate will be hosted by CBS News. Health care must be a priority in this debate!

Can you email Steve Chaggaris, Political Director at at CBS News, and tell him why health care should be a priority on October 15th and suggest some questions to ask?

America is a great country, and we deserve a great debate on the real issues.

Please email CBS News and tell them to make health care a priority in their debate.

With your help, we can finally start talking about important issues.
