Just yesterday Wisconsin Representative Gwen Moore (D-WI) added her name to the steadily growing list of supporters of H. Res. 333 (now H. Res. 799 in the current Congressional session) which calls for impeachment hearings against Vice President Richard B. Cheney.

Rep. Moore has been lobbied in favor of impeachment steadily by The Milwaukee Impeachment Committee members but fellow Wisconsin Representative Tammy Baldwin and House Judiciary Committee member recently joining in with Rep. Robert Wexler (D-FL) in publicly calling for impeachment may have also factored in her decision.

  • Surprise, surprise! My own representative, Chris Van Hollen (Maryland CD-8)is not on the list of co-sponsors. But his constituents here in Maryland want him to support impeachment! Just another example of how this member of Congress with his plans for political advancement, prefers to take the easy way when he formulates his positions and casts his votes. (To his credit, he did vote the right way on the last vote on Iraq war funding, opposing that measure when the omnibus bill came back to the House. His record on Iraq war funding, is, however, a mixed one;he only votes the right way when a significant number of his Democratic colleagues do the same.) With regard to impeachment, history will judge those members of Congress who took the "easy" way out, refusing to hold Bush and Cheney accountable.
